This area is one of the most devastated parts of New Orleans ravaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and it has over 80 registered historic homes. These efforts in sustainable rebuilding will result in significant energy savings and improved quality of life for the residents. Lead partner organizations for Historic Green include the U.S. Green Building Council, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, The Make it Right Foundation, Global Green, The Lower 9th Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement & Development and the Preservation Resource Center. http://www.historicgreen.org
