Trouble the Water was featured on national television this morning when MSNBC’s Morning Joe invited us on the show to talk about the film and the upcoming April 23rd HBO television premiere. Three hosts with two guests (us) who probably could have used another cup of coffee (we do our best work after 7 p.m., not a.m.) – and who knew five minutes could fly by so fast! It did give us a chance to also talk about some of the problems facing Gulf Coast residents 3 ½ years after Katrina and we thank Morning Joe for inviting us on the show!
Mike Barnacle raised a key question: Where is the bailout money for New Orleans? There is plenty of outrage over the AIG bonuses, but where are the billions in federal aid that still hasn’t reached the people it was intended to help? The Bush Administration’s failures along the Gulf Coast just continued to pile up for three years, but now we have a chance to do things differently. And there are promising signs. Please consider helping now by telling your member of Congress to take action to help people return home, and to help rebuild the Gulf Coast with fairness and equity for all its residents.
